In the early morning hours of Sunday, March 28, 2021, the life of 53-year-old Kimberly Rae "Kim" Lambright, a Caucasian female, was tragically cut short in a wooded area of Southwest Portland, Oregon. Her body was discovered by Portland Police officers who were responding to a report of a shooting near the intersection of Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Southwest Capitol Highway at approximately 8:32 a.m.
An autopsy later confirmed that Lambright had died from a gunshot wound, and her death was officially ruled a homicide. At the time of her death, Lambright had been living in a camp in the same wooded area for over a year.
The investigation into Lambright's murder brought to light a previous violent incident that had occurred at the same location just weeks earlier. On March 7, 2021, Lambright's boyfriend was shot and wounded in the encampment. In that earlier incident, it was Lambright who had guided law enforcement to their tent where her boyfriend was suffering from gunshot wounds to his abdomen and leg. During the investigation of her boyfriend's shooting, Lambright informed detectives that there were about ten other campsites in the vicinity and mentioned a confrontation she had with an individual in late January.
Despite the connections between the two shootings and the information provided by Lambright prior to her own death, details regarding any suspects or arrests in her murder have not been publicly released. The Portland Police Bureau has appealed to the public for any information regarding the shooting and has provided contact information for the detectives assigned to the case. However, there have been no subsequent announcements of any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the killing of Kimberly Rae Lambright. Her case was the 23rd homicide in the city of Portland in 2021.
