On February 17, 2016, 23-year-old Iaron Brooks was found dead in Avalon Park on Chicago's South Side. Brooks had been reported missing since Christmas Eve 2015, and his body was discovered after a lengthy search that involved multiple locations. He was killed by multiple gunshot wounds, and the death was ruled a homicide.
