On a summer Sunday afternoon, July 27, 2008, the life of 27-year-old Lacrissa Davis was tragically cut short in Ames, Iowa. A female, she was working at a Casey's convenience store when she was fatally shot. The incident prompted a swift police response, with officers arriving at the store just before 4:30 PM to find her deceased inside. The tragic event was not a random act of violence; the suspect was identified as Tony Hayes, a man with whom Davis had been in a relationship.
