In the early morning hours of March 6, 2021, the life of 16-year-old Elijah Edwardlee Brown-Townsend was tragically cut short in Des Moines, Iowa. The Black/African American male was fatally wounded in what authorities would later describe as an accidental shooting. The incident, which marked the city's second homicide of the year, unfolded around 4:40 a.m., prompting a response from the Des Moines Police Department.
