Demetrius Rashon Paskel, known to friends as "Meechie," tragically lost his life on July 28, 2016, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 19. The young man from Forest Park fell victim to gun violence in the city's West Side.
The incident occurred on July 27, 2016, at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Van Buren Street, located in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. Paskel was shot in the head during the attack. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

The young man was a member of the Zion Grove M.B. Church in Malden, Missouri, indicating ties to both Illinois and Missouri. His funeral services were held on August 9, 2016, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Missouri, with burial following at the Macedonia Cemetery in the same town.
