On January 22, 2023, 39-year-old Armando Eusebio Saldana of Watsonville, California, was fatally shot during an argument in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 200 block of Sunnyhills Drive. Following the incident, Saldana's family transported him to Watsonville Community Hospital, from where he was airlifted to a trauma center. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
In the subsequent investigation, Watsonville Police detectives identified 29-year-old Felipe Jimenez as the primary suspect in Saldana's death. After approximately two weeks of intensive investigative work, authorities located Jimenez in San Jose, California. He was arrested on February 10, 2023, and charged with murder. Jimenez was then booked into Santa Cruz County Jail. He made his initial court appearance shortly thereafter and was scheduled for arraignment on February 22, 2023.
The arrest of Jimenez was the result of collaborative efforts among multiple law enforcement agencies, including the San Jose Police, Santa Cruz County Auto Theft Reduction Enforcement Team, Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team, and Watsonville Police Department's Special Investigations Unit.
