Gregory Williams Jr., aged 25, was fatally shot on July 14, 2017, in the Chatham neighborhood of Chicago. The incident occurred while Williams was in his vehicle, and the shooting added to the significant number of violent incidents in the city during that summer. Chicago experienced numerous homicides throughout 2017, with shootings being concentrated in neighborhoods on the South and West Sides, areas often plagued by gang activity and poverty.
