In the quiet town of Sparta, Tennessee, a confrontation on a Wednesday night in early spring turned deadly, leaving one man dead and another facing serious charges. On March 1, 2023, 66-year-old John Thomas Clouse was shot and killed at a residence located in the 200 block of Derossett Loop. The incident prompted a joint investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the White County Sheriff's Office, initiated at the request of 13th Judicial District Attorney General Bryant
Dunaway.
The investigation led authorities to identify Osie Nash, Jr., a 64-year-old acquaintance of the victim, as the individual responsible for the fatal shooting. Investigators determined that during a confrontation, Nash not only shot and killed Clouse but also aimed a firearm at another man present at the scene. This led to his subsequent arrest.
Following the investigation, Osie Nash, Jr. was charged with one count of Second Degree Murder for the death of John Thomas Clouse and one count of Aggravated Assault for threatening the other man. He was taken into custody and booked at the White County Sheriff's Office, with his bond set at $300,000. At the time of his booking, Nash was photographed wearing a t-shirt that read, 'When guns are outlawed, I will be the outlaw.' The case against him is pending in the White County judicial system.
