On April 30, 2023, 37-year-old Blanca Rosa LaCortiglia was found deceased in her home in Spring Lake, North Carolina. Born on November 4, 1985, in the Bronx, she was known for her inspirational artistry and vibrant spirit. She is survived by her parents, Rene Aceituno and Daysi Cordon; siblings, Oyuki Aceituno and Jessy Molina; half-siblings, Rene Aceituno Jr. and Maria Aceituno; and her son, Deacon LaCortiglia.

The Harnett County Sheriff's Office initiated a well-being check at Blanca's residence after being contacted by the Hamilton Township Police Department in Ohio. Upon entry, deputies discovered her body in the master bedroom, with a firearm and magazine nearby. A note reading "I'm sorry. I love you." was found on a counter.

The investigation led to her husband, 43-year-old Jeffrey Myers LaCortiglia, who had traveled to Ohio following the incident. He visited his mother's home, confessed to the crime, and, upon her encouragement, surrendered to local authorities. Jeffrey informed the Hamilton Township Police that he had shot his wife in their North Carolina home.

Subsequently, a murder warrant was issued for Jeffrey, and he was taken into custody in Ohio. After waiving his extradition rights, he was transported back to North Carolina, where he was charged with Blanca's murder and held without bond.

The couple's 8-year-old son was placed in the care of Jeffrey's father in Ohio. Blanca's passing was deeply mourned by her family and community, who remembered her for her artistic talent and the positive impact she had on those around her.
