Patrick Cotrona, a 33-year-old Georgia Tech graduate, was shot and killed on the night of May 25, 2013, while walking with two friends in East Atlanta Village. The group was heading to a bar when they were confronted by an armed robber near the intersection of Flat Shoals and May Avenues. Despite complying with the demands, Cotrona was shot in the abdomen and died at the scene, while one of his friends was injured.
