In the early morning hours of December 7, 2018, the life of 19-year-old Daquell Jamale Worthy, an African American male, was tragically cut short in what police believe was a home invasion in South Fulton, Georgia. Worthy, a graduate of Westlake High School, was found deceased at approximately 4:50 a.m. inside a residence on Celtic Drive. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Also present in the home was Worthy’s girlfriend, who was also shot during the incident. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Worthy’s uncle was also in the house at the time and was awakened by the sound of a gunshot. Upon investigating, he discovered his nephew lying in the hallway.
South Fulton police who responded to the scene began an investigation into the homicide. Their preliminary findings indicated that the suspect or suspects had entered the home through the garage door. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence.
