On January 8, 2024, a tragic incident occurred at the Super 8 Motel in Cloquet, Minnesota, resulting in the untimely death of 22-year-old Shellby Marie Trettel. Shellby, a beloved employee of the motel since her teenage years, was fatally shot while working at the front desk.
