In the heart of Louisville, Kentucky, a promising young life was tragically cut short, leaving a family and a community in mourning. Alonzo Lil L Maurice Palmer IV, a 15-year-old Black male, was a student at Iroquois High School, known for his vibrant personality and infectious smile. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend, remembered for his loyalty and his willingness to always lend a helping hand.
His family described him as a hardworking young man with ambitious goals and a talent for making people laugh.
On the evening of February 13, 2023, in the Smoketown Jackson neighborhood, the life of this charismatic teenager was irrevocably altered. In the 700 block of South Jackson Street, Alonzo was shot in a violent encounter that sent shockwaves through the community. He was rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital, where medical professionals fought to save him. Tragically, his injuries proved too severe, and on February 14, 2023, Alonzo Maurice Palmer IV succumbed to the gunshot wounds.
The death of the 15-year-old was quickly classified as a homicide by the Louisville Metro Police Department, launching an investigation into the senseless killing. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the case remains an open and active investigation. To date, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made in connection with the shooting, and no suspects have been officially named.
