James Yates Jr., a 29-year-old resident of Dolton, Illinois, was fatally shot by masked gunmen on June 25, 2023. The incident occurred in a restaurant parking lot in the south suburbs of Chicago. This tragic event marked James Yates Jr. as the sixth of 11 homicide victims in Dolton for that year, a town with a population of approximately 20,000.
