On November 4, 2024, Chicago Police Officer Enrique Martinez, aged 26, was fatally shot while conducting a traffic stop in the 8000 block of South Ingleside Avenue, near 80th and Ingleside in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood. Officer Martinez and his partner were interacting with the driver of a vehicle that was blocking traffic.
