On September 1, 2009, Georgetown Police Patrolman Chad E. Spicer, 29, was fatally shot while attempting to apprehend suspects involved in a prior shooting incident. Patrolman Spicer and his partner, Corporal Shawn Brittingham, pursued a vehicle linked to a shooting at a McDonald's restaurant on U.S. 113. The chase concluded in the Kimmeytown neighborhood, where the suspects' vehicle abruptly stopped.
