On August 3, 2009, in Rumford, Maine, 22-year-old Victor Reed Sheldon and his friend, Roger Leroy Day Jr., were fatally shot in Day's Pine Street apartment. The perpetrator, Eric Hamel, carried out the murders at the behest of Richard A. Moulton Jr., who was romantically involved with Sheldon's estranged wife, Gayla Sheldon.
