On November 5, 2011, 46-year-old Peter J. Kolofsky of Sebago, Maine, was fatally shot while deer hunting near his home on Hogfat Hill Road. The incident occurred approximately 45 minutes before sunset. Kolofsky, an experienced hunter, was wearing the required blaze orange vest and hat at the time.
