On April 18, 2023, in Bowdoin, Maine, 72-year-old Robert Eger and his wife, 62-year-old Patricia Eger, were found fatally shot in their home alongside their friends, 66-year-old David Eaton and 62-year-old Cynthia Eaton. The Eatons' son, Joseph Eaton, had been released from the Maine Correctional Center just days earlier, on April 14, after serving a sentence for aggravated assault.
