In the early morning hours of December 13, 2015, a night out with friends in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, ended in tragedy for Richard E. Baumgartner, a 22-year-old Caucasian male. Baumgartner was discovered in a vehicle in a downtown parking lot with a fatal gunshot wound. First responders rushed him to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. The Coeur d'Alene Police Department quickly deemed the death suspicious and launched a homicide investigation.
