In early February 1930, the Haven family—Albert, 50; Lulia, 39; their sons Daniel, 18, Leland, 14, Charles, 2; and their infant daughter Mary, 2 months old—resided on a farm near Schafer, North Dakota, just east of Watford City. On or about February 9, 1930, all six family members were brutally murdered.
