On May 12, 2007, at around 11:36 p.m., Brittney Hall, a 17-year-old high school student, was sitting in a parked vehicle in the 1300 block of Taylor Street NW, Washington, D.C., when an unknown assailant fired multiple shots at the car. Brittney was struck in the neck, and her friend, who was with her in the car, rushed her to Howard University Hospital. The bullet had caused severe damage, severing her spine. Tragically, Brittney succumbed to her injuries six days later on May 18, 2007.
