Reyes, who lived on the 5500 block of 7th Street NW, was struck by the bullets.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and Reyes was quickly transported to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, his injuries proved to be too severe. Edwin Reyes succumbed to his wounds, and what began as a late-night shooting was now being investigated as a homicide.
