In the late hours of a November night in 2009, the life of a young Washington, D.C. man was tragically cut short. Edwin Reyes, a 23-year-old Hispanic man, was in the Brightwood neighborhood when the sound of gunfire pierced the midnight air. The incident occurred on the 600 block of Longfellow Street NW. Reyes, who lived on the 5500 block of 7th Street NW, was struck by the bullets.
