In the summer of 2022, a domestic dispute in Saraland, Alabama, ended in the tragic death of 66-year-old Tommie Junior Smith. On June 11th, Smith was discovered at a local barbecue restaurant with a fatal gunshot wound. Despite efforts to get him to a hospital, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators soon determined that the shooting had not occurred at the restaurant but at a different location within Saraland.
It was revealed that Smith had been on his way to the hospital when the driver of the vehicle stopped at the eatery seeking help. The subsequent investigation led police to identify his girlfriend, 72-year-old Juanita Dandles, as the primary suspect in the case.
Authorities arrested Dandles and charged her with murder. While the motive for the fatal shooting was not immediately released by law enforcement officials, it was reported that Smith and Dandles were in a relationship. Following her arrest, Dandles was held in jail.
