On February 7, 2016, 25-year-old Welton Daniel Albers of Houston, Texas, was fatally shot aboard the fishing vessel Katherine, moored at Saint Herman Harbor in Kodiak, Alaska. The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. when Kodiak police received a 911 call from 26-year-old Everett Grass, who reported that his friend had been shot multiple times. Shortly thereafter, 28-year-old Matt Bowe contacted authorities, claiming he had shot Albers in self-defense.
