A male Alaska Native, 59-year-old Vincent Beaver, was found slain inside his home in the remote village of Platinum on August 22, 2022. The violent incident also claimed the life of a 93-year-old man, and left a third person wounded. The assailant, identified as 46-year-old John Smith, had entered the residence armed, opened fire, and then attempted to conceal the crime by setting the house ablaze.
