On February 25, 2020, 25-year-old Derrick Gerod Marks was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Hunter Ridge Apartments off Gadsden Highway in Irondale, Alabama. The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m., and Marks was transported to St. Vincent's East Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m.
