Do you know who murdered Raymond Isaiah Seawright in 2013?
In the spring of 2013, a family in Newport News, Virginia, was shattered by a second devastating loss. On April 30th, 22-year-old Raymond Isaiah Seawright, a Black male, was found deceased in the hallway of a boarding house on Chestnut Avenue. His life had been cut short by violence, a grim echo of the fate that had befallen his brother just five years earlier. The young man, who was a father to three children, was discovered in a place he was visiting with a friend, leaving his family with endless questions and unbearable pain.

The Newport News police descended upon the scene, interviewing multiple witnesses in an effort to piece together the events that led to Raymond's untimely death. Despite their efforts and the passage of time, the case grew cold. To this day, the homicide remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder. The lack of answers has left a void for his loved ones, who continue to seek justice and closure.

The weight of this tragedy was amplified by the family's previous heartbreak. In 2008, Raymond's brother, Ryan Seawright, was also a victim of gun violence in Newport News. While arrests were made in Ryan's case, the same resolution has eluded Raymond's family. His mother, Kerry Seawright, has spoken of the profound and enduring pain of losing two sons to violence, a nightmare from which she cannot wake. The family has pleaded with the public for any information that might lead to an arrest, hoping that one day they will find the answers they so desperately seek.
