Locating the suspect proved to be a challenge, as Munoz was unhoused and had no regular contact with family or friends. However, persistent police work led to his apprehension on January 23, 2025. Mark Munoz was arrested and subsequently charged with first-degree felony murder in the death of Jason Royter. While an arrest was made, investigators noted that the case remained active and a clear motive had not been established, as Munoz was unwilling to speak with them.
