On October 13, 2012, John Martinez, a 45-year-old father of four, was tragically shot and killed in the driveway of his home in Houston, Texas. Martinez was returning home late in the evening after visiting his brother when he was attacked. The assailants shot him multiple times and robbed him of his wallet and cell phone. His wife, Norma Martinez, and their son were inside the home when they heard the shots. They opened the door to find John lying unconscious and bleeding.
The investigation revealed that the attackers may have followed Martinez home, possibly with the intention of committing a robbery or even attempting to break into the house. Norma Martinez, in her grief, has remained determined to find justice for her husband. She even put up a billboard along Interstate 45, offering a reward through Crime Stoppers for any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. The family describes John as a hero who tried to protect his loved ones during the attack.
Despite ongoing efforts by the Houston Police Department and the Cold Case Squad, the case remains unsolved. The department has requested assistance from the public to provide any information that might help solve the murder and bring closure to the grieving family. Norma continues to share her husband's story in hopes of preventing a similar tragedy from happening to others.
