Derek "DK" Marcus Kately, a 36-year-old resident of Houston, Texas, was tragically killed on October 1, 2014. Originally from New Iberia, Louisiana, Kately moved to Houston later in his life and eventually owned an auto detailing company. He was remembered as a family man, leaving behind three sons: Michael Boutte, Derek Kately Jr., and Dorian Bethel. Kately's funeral was held on October 11, 2014, at St. Edward Catholic Church in New Iberia, Louisiana. His burial took place at St. Edward Church Mausoleum, following a mass officiated by Monsignor Ronald Broussard. Visitation services were held earlier in the day, accompanied by a recitation of the Rosary.
