On January 6, 2015, at approximately 6 a.m., 34-year-old Chester D. Edwards was fatally shot at his residence in the 4100 block of Panay Drive in southeast Houston. As Edwards was preparing to take his wife to work and their three children to school, an unknown suspect approached him at the front door. The suspect struck Edwards and forced him back into the residence. Realizing the danger, Edwards' wife fled with their children in the family vehicle. As they drove away, both the initial assailant and an accomplice opened fire on the vehicle. Fortunately, the mother and children escaped unharmed. Paramedics later arrived and pronounced Edwards deceased due to multiple gunshot wounds.
The Houston Police Department's Homicide Division launched an investigation into the case. The primary suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with a skinny build, wearing a black hoodie and green sweatpants. The suspects were seen fleeing in a late-model, silver Ford F-150 with a red "V" decal on the rear window. Despite investigative efforts, the case remained unsolved, with limited information available to the public.
