On April 10, 2015, Ronald Thirkield Wyatt, a 32-year-old African American male from Fort Worth, Texas, was tragically shot and killed in the Highland Hills neighborhood. The incident reportedly stemmed from an argument over a pair of sunglasses that Wyatt had purchased from another man. According to witnesses, the dispute escalated during a phone conversation, during which the suspect allegedly threatened Wyatt by stating, 'one of us is going to go.'
As Wyatt drove down the 1400 block of Stafford Drive, the suspect retrieved a firearm and fired multiple shots at Wyatt's vehicle. Attempting to flee, Wyatt reversed his car but ultimately crashed into a house. He was found deceased inside his vehicle at the scene.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Nicholas Jeremiah Jackson, was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the shooting. Witnesses informed the police that the altercation was primarily about the sunglasses, although investigators considered the possibility of additional underlying issues. Wyatt's funeral services were held on April 18, 2015, at New Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Fort Worth, with arrangements managed by Serenity Funerals & Cremations.
