Epifanio Martinez, 63, was fatally shot in Houston, Texas, on September 1, 2015. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. while Martinez and a friend were waiting in his front yard to be picked up for work. They were approached by two young men who exited a gray or light-colored sedan driven by a third suspect. One of the suspects threatened Martinez's friend with a gun and demanded money. When they turned to Martinez, a struggle ensued, during which Martinez was shot once.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspects fled in the sedan immediately after the shooting. The armed suspect was described as being between 5'4" and 5'7", with a medium build, unshaven face, and wearing brown shorts and a black T-shirt. The second suspect had a similar build, was about 5'6", and had a thin goatee. The Houston Police Department urged anyone with information to contact the authorities to help resolve the case.
