On October 22, 2016, Michael Truong, a 52-year-old convenience store manager, was tragically killed in a robbery and carjacking in southwest Houston. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. after Truong and a colleague had just closed the Texaco gas station on East Hillcroft Avenue. The two employees locked up the store and proceeded to their vehicles on different sides of the parking lot. Truong was approached by two individuals wearing hoodies near his gray Honda minivan.
