On a summer evening in Memphis, Tennessee, the life of 25-year-old Harold Avery, Jr. was tragically cut short. On July 7, 2011, at approximately 6:06 p.m., police responded to a shooting at the Hunter Oaks Apartments located at 662 Woodstone Circle. Arriving officers discovered Avery lying unresponsive on the sidewalk within the apartment complex. He was swiftly transported to the MED, but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses at the scene recounted hearing two gunshots ring
out. They then saw Avery exit a gold-colored 2002-2004 Cadillac Seville, which had a matching gold rag top, before he collapsed onto the ground. The Memphis Police Department's Homicide Bureau took charge of the investigation into the young man's death.
In the years that have followed, authorities have sought assistance from the public to bring closure to the case. However, despite the appeals for information, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the shooting death of Harold Avery, Jr. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for his family and the Memphis community.
