On a summer morning in Pittsburgh, the life of Mark Williams, known to his friends and family as “Bizz,” came to a tragic and violent end. The 48-year-old man was discovered by a construction worker on July 31, 2014, in the city's Homewood neighborhood. He was found lying in the grass in the 7300 block of Bennett Street with a single gunshot wound to his head.
Investigators believe Williams was killed hours before his body was found.
The night before, around 11:45 p.m., a neighbor reported hearing a gunshot and witnessing a black Honda Acura speeding away from the area. Despite this lead, the case grew cold, leaving a family searching for answers and a community unsettled. Williams was remembered as a role model, with his sister, Tamara Williams, recalling a young man who told her that her brother had taught him how to dance.
In the months following the discovery of Williams' body, Pittsburgh police announced that they had made progress in the investigation and had identified a suspect. This individual was already incarcerated on an unrelated charge. However, authorities stated that they needed more information and evidence to secure an arrest warrant for the homicide. They appealed to the public for assistance, hoping that with a suspect already in custody, witnesses might be less fearful of coming forward.
Despite the identification of a person of interest, no arrests have ever been made in connection with the murder of Mark “Bizz” Williams. His sister, Tamara, has become a vocal advocate for her brother, expressing the profound loss her family has endured. She has continually urged those with information to break their silence, believing that people in the community know what happened but are reluctant to speak to the police. A reward was offered for any information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for his death, a case that remains a painful and unsolved chapter for his loved ones.
