In North Philadelphia, a late-night argument on the eve of Easter turned deadly, leaving a father dead and his son under arrest. The tragic events unfolded on a Saturday night, when police were called to a residence on West Wingohocking Street around 11:34 p.m. for a report of a person with a weapon.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered 61-year-old Kevin Jenkins lying on the front porch of the home. He had sustained multiple stab wounds to his neck. Emergency medical personnel rushed him to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
Investigators determined that the stabbing occurred after a heated argument between Kevin Jenkins and his son. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Devin Jenkins, was taken into custody at the scene without incident. A knife, believed to be the weapon used in the assault, was also recovered from the porch.
Following the incident, Devin Jenkins was treated for a minor cut on his finger before being processed. He has since been charged with murder and possession of an instrument of a crime. The case is being investigated by the Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit as they continue to delve into the circumstances that led to the fatal confrontation.
