This prompted a welfare check at his residence at 614 SW Nevada Street in the John's Landing area of Southwest Portland. On the evening of Saturday, August 8, 2009, police officers arrived at his condominium to a grim scene.
Upon entering the home, they discovered Mr. Toeniskoetter deceased on the floor.
The circumstances of his death immediately pointed towards a violent encounter. An investigation was launched, and the medical examiner later determined that he had died from blunt force trauma. His death was officially ruled a homicide.
Investigators at the scene found evidence suggesting a robbery had taken place, leading to the theory that the assailants had ultimately murdered him during the commission of the crime. Despite the ongoing investigation, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in the case. Over the years, law enforcement has continued to seek information from the public.
