A Birmingham man shot twice in the head last week during a midday shooting in West End has died.

Demetrius Jones, 24, was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital today.

He has been hospitalized on life support since Thursday when someone opened fire on him while he and several others were sitting on the balcony of an apartment complex on Cotton Avenue. Police had said he was dead that day, but later said he remained on life support in critical condition.
