Robert Hamrick, the police chief of Rock Creek, Ohio, died under suspicious circumstances following a high-speed pursuit on the night of March 10, 1970. Chief Hamrick, 28 years old at the time, pursued an unknown vehicle on an icy road in Ashtabula County. During the chase, his police cruiser slid off Callender Road and struck a tree, causing moderate damage to the vehicle. However, it was what occurred after the crash that made the case particularly alarming and mysterious.
