On May 6, 2008, Michael Banks, a 23-year-old resident of Oakland, California, was shot and killed while in East Oakland. The incident took place during the night when Banks was near a residential area, reportedly caught in a shooting incident that erupted suddenly. Local law enforcement responded to reports of shots fired and found Banks at the scene with fatal injuries. Despite immediate efforts to save him, Banks was pronounced dead shortly after.
