On February 10, 2010, Ronnie P. Dowell, age 18, was tragically killed in a violent home invasion at his residence on McCarley Drive East in Columbus, Ohio. Ronnie was at home with two women when they heard a noise at the back door. One of the women alerted him, and Ronnie armed himself with a handgun to confront the intruder. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, and Ronnie was struck during the ensuing chaos. He later died from his injuries at Mt. Carmel West hospital.
