On July 5, 2017, 15-month-old Elijah Carey "E.J." Obrecht Jr. was brought to Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Initially, few details were released; however, after further investigation, authorities classified his death as a homicide later that year.
