James Clifford Friday, a 43-year-old resident of Gastonia, North Carolina, was found murdered on Christmas Day, December 25, 1989. Family members arrived at his home on West Walnut Avenue for a holiday dinner but were unable to reach him. After repeated attempts to contact him, they called the authorities. When police arrived, they discovered that Friday had been killed inside his residence.
