Jie Tao Liu, a 58-year-old truck driver from San Jose, was found unconscious near his truck on June 24, 2010, in the Port of Oakland area, specifically on Middle Harbor Road. Liu died the next morning from injuries sustained in a street fight that occurred in broad daylight. The initial responders did not immediately realize he had been struck, but an autopsy revealed blunt force trauma to the head as the cause of death. The incident was ruled a homicide, and police have treated it as such, although details about the suspects are not yet available.
