Do you know what happened to Sarah Hill?
On June 6, 2018, Sarah Ashley Hill, a 33-year-old white female from Mount Airy, North Carolina, was last seen near Blue Hollow Road. That evening, she contacted her sister requesting a ride, but her phone died shortly after the call, and she was never heard from again. Her vehicle was later found abandoned near the intersection of Blue Hollow Road, offering no clues to her whereabouts.
In August 2018, Sarah was officially reported missing in Patrick County, Virginia. Investigators conducted extensive searches, including multiple properties on King Park Circle in Mount Airy, but these efforts yielded no significant leads. The case remained unsolved for over four years.
A breakthrough occurred in October 2022 when investigators, acting on new information, obtained a search warrant for a property on Asbury Road in Westfield, North Carolina. During the search, human remains were discovered buried beneath the floorboards of a structure on the property. The remains were sent to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where they were positively identified as those of Sarah Ashley Hill.
On October 4, 2023, the Stokes County Sheriff's Office received the official autopsy report, which ruled Sarah's death a homicide. Subsequently, 61-year-old Leroy Allen Hoover was arrested and charged with her murder and concealment of death. He is currently being held in the Stokes County Jail without bond, awaiting trial. Authorities have indicated that Hoover has other pending cases in Stokes County.
Sarah's family expressed gratitude to the law enforcement agencies involved for their dedication and persistence in the investigation. Her sister, April Cain, stated, 'Sarah will be home now where she belongs. She will forever remain in all of her friends and family's hearts. She will be remembered for her creativity, work ethic, and big heart.'
