On September 18, 2011, Tony Calloway, a 21-year-old resident of Long Beach, California, was fatally shot while standing with a group of people outside a residence on Locust Avenue. The shooting occurred around 8:20 p.m. when an unknown assailant opened fire from a distance. Calloway was struck in the upper body and, despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after.
