Darius Jenkins, a 20-year-old man, was shot and killed on October 7, 2011, in Oakland, California, marking the city's 90th homicide of that year. Jenkins was shot in West Oakland, near the corner of 13th and Peralta Streets, where he was found by friends and neighbors in critical condition. Despite attempts by community members and emergency responders to save him, he died shortly after being taken to the hospital.
