A young woman's body is found and years later is identified Shelly Rae Christian, also known as Shelly Rae Kephart, was reported missing from Minneapolis in October 1993 at the age of 29. Her disappearance remained a mystery until November 1994, when her skeletal remains were discovered by hunters in Wright Township, Michigan, nearly 600 miles away from her last known location. Shelly had been the victim of a homicide, but for many years, her identity remained unknown, and she was referred to by investigators as 'Matilda.'
In January 2022,
advancements in DNA and genealogical testing finally led to the identification of the remains as Shelly Rae Christian. Despite the identification, the circumstances surrounding her murder, including who was responsible, remain unsolved. Shelly's case, now spanning decades, continues to be a cold case, with authorities still seeking information that could bring justice to her and her family.
